Niagara Region MunicipalityOntario TourismBy John HartigPrettiness and uniqueness are to be discovered abundantly in Southern Ontario, especially if you go into the small side roads and by-ways that wind scenically throughout the Niagara Region. I've engaged in landscape photography enthusiastically throughout Niagara since 1990, in venues like The Bruce Trail, Balls Falls, the Service Roads that parallel the QEW and many side roads that border old farms and fields. I love photographing Niagara Off-Road. I've also spent satisfying hours photographing agriculture, animals, Lake Ontario, the Beacon Boat, Jordan Hollow and splendid Sunsets whenever and wherever nature presented me with that sacred gift. Bruce Trail |
Great for hiking and nature walks. One can access the Bruce Trail from the town of Grimsby and walk right up to Beamer Point. Bruce Trail Pictures Tour |
Ball's Falls |
Ball's Falls is a local Vineland and Jordan attraction. It's a great place for picnics and pictures, plus the trail which goes from the Lower Falls to the Upper Falls. Balls Falls Photos Tour |
Agriculture |
Agriculture is seen everywhere in the Niagara Region, especially if you take the scenic tour off the Queen Elizabeth Highway (QEW). You can run across orchards, old barns and old machinery. Agriculture Photography Tour |
Animals |
Lake Ontario has its seagulls, ducks and geese, while side roads can lead you to some nice picture taking of horses, cattle and the odd donkey. Animal PhotographyTour |
The Lakes |
Lake Ontario and Lake Erie have lots of places where you can drive off, get out of the car and take some lovely shots. Lake Ontario Lake Erie Tour |
Beacon Boat |
The Beacon Boat is easily spotted off the QEW near Jordan/Vineland. In its heyday, it looked like a Spanish Galleon but a tragic fire gutted the boat. It's still an eye-catcher for people driving along the QEW. Beacon Boat Images Tour |
Jordan Hollow |
Jordan Hollow is a deep dip in the road (Hwy 8) between Vineland and Jordan. There's a small bridge and a stream rushing underneath. Lots of trees skirt either side. Jordan Hollow Pictures Tour |
Sunsets |
There are great sunsets in the Niagara Region, off Lake Ontario and also in the countryside silhouetting old barns or old trees. Niagara Sunsets Tour |
